PRAZ prides itself in fulfilling its mandate and achieving its long-term goals and that is only possible if all staff members work as a team and in collaboration. Team building is essential to healthy work culture and promoting teamwork.
PRAZ held a team building workshop in recently to regroup and improve on the relationship between co-workers and the working environment. The Covid-19 pandemic brought about several challenges for many workplaces due to remote work induced by lockdown, quarantines, office decongestions, among other issues posing a potential loss of team work and PRAZ was no exception. This was followed by the festive season break hence, team building was necessary to regroup, strategize and strengthen trust and communication amongst staff members to maintain effective teamwork.
Milton Kamwendo, a renowned facilitator and strategy development consultant facilitated the team building session. He used different training methods such as group discussions, brainstorming, demonstrations, question and answer and outdoor activities. PRAZ staff members were requested to be more active and participatory in the learning process. The session was engaging, feedback from the staff members was solicited using group presentations, aimed at improving the aspect of team building and partnership creation.
During the team building session, the PRAZ staff participated in activities and exercises in groups aimed at identifying strengths and weaknesses of each staff member, defining roles and importance of each member within a team and in the organisation. While they have different job functions and belong to various departments in the workplace, they all contribute to the overall success of the organization. Mr Kamwendo reminded PRAZ staff that their actions should add to trust and support for one another and evolve into cohesive units and shared expectations for accomplishing PRAZ’s vision.
The team building session is expected to yield results which include enhancing good communication in the workplace, increased productivity and creativity. Another expectation of this session is to achieve better operating policies and procedures thereby motivating team members to achieve goals and ensuring an environment of cooperation and collaborative problem-solving to set the PRAZ flag high.
